Share Six ~ Contrast

We are into month three of 2018 here at Share Six and this month the theme is ‘contrast’. Funnily enough we have had about two feet of snow and then some here in the Scottish Borders, which is in stark contrast to what should be happening right now, namely spring! The weather has caused wide spread disruption all over Scotland, with very little food making it to the supermarkets due to the severe road conditions. We have had a red weather warning for the last couple of days so most people have hunkered down waiting for it to pass, thankfully we seem to be on the other side of ‘the beast from the East’ as its being called! Anyway enough from me and onto this months theme…..

‘Contrast is achieved in a photo when two things with visible differences are presented in the same frame. ‘

I am a big fan of dramatic light, which I more often than not will be converting to black and white. This gives me the dynamic contrast of  light and dark, primarily the colours of white and black, with very little grey, this gives me a high contrast look which I love! The reason I like it so much is that it draws the viewer to exactly where you want them to look, with very little distractions. I hope you enjoy my interpretation of this theme and I can’t wait to see what everyone else has shot for this.

  2. The patches of light you found to capture your children are just perfect and tell such a lovely story. I’m particularly drawn to the arched image – the framing and movement are so intriguing. ❤

  3. Lynne, I love these. Black and white contrasts are definitely my favorites and you have captured some beautiful images with your children. I do love the city scenes as well and that archway is just beautiful.
